Sponsor Information

This event is being hosted by Troop 959, San Diego, California, and is open to any Scout from any Troop.

Event Description

In putting on this Merit Badge Day, Troop 959 strives to create a quality Merit Badge program that includes skilled trades, life skills, general enrichment and Eagle-required Merit Badges.   In small-classroom settings, Scouts will learn from carefully recruited professional counselors. There will be no on-site registration or walk-ins.The only way to sign up for this event is via http://www.meritbadge.info/

Scouts have the option of taking up to four 2-hour classes, however, some classes require more than one session.  The intent is to be able to sign off Blue Cards for all scouts who come prepared with all perquisites and complete the in-class requirements.  Regardless of the number of merit badge classes a scout takes, the cost is $38 per scout. Lunch is included. **Fees are non-refundable; however, if a scout must back out he can transfer the registration to another scout.**

We are offering two sessions for adults: "Boy Scout Leader Specific Training" and "Boy Scout Leader High Adventure"

The first is a 4-hour session will be taught by Troop 959's former Scoutmaster and will provide a wealth of information for scouter's wishing to learn about leadership opportunities. The second is specifically geared toward adults who want to go to Philmont Scout Ranch as an adult leader. It is taught by a Troop 959 Assistant Scoutmaster who has participated in 7 Philmont Treks over the past 10 years. He has a wealth of information about the pre-planning, travel arrangements and being prepared for the two weeks at Philmont.
The cost for these sessions is $10 and includes lunch.

Unit Sign-up Instructions

When registering individual Scouts through the on-line registration system, please provide an email address for each Scout. This will allow Merit Badge Counselors the ability to pass information pertaining to their classes prior to the Merit Badge Day. In the spirit of BSA Youth Protection guidelines, please provide an email address and phone number for the Scout’s parents rather than the individual Scout.  The phone number provided should also be a suitable emergency contact.

RIGHT TO LIMIT/CANCEL: Troop 959 will reserve the right to limit or cancel any class. Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and class minimums.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVED: Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.

EXPECTATION: Scouts are strongly encouraged to buy or borrow and read the Merit Badge Booklet and complete all pre-requisites before attending the Merit Badge Day.  Scouts should be prepared to discuss, report, demonstrate, and be tested on all requirements.
