Adult Leader Training: The following training classes are being offered for Adult Leaders:
* Scoutmaster Specific Training
* Troop Committee Challenge
* Training the Charter Organization Representative
The same registration restrictions cited above for Boy Scouts also apply to Adult Leaders seeking training.
**NEW** New Scout Parent Training: This year, we are offering classes for new Boy Scout parents, current parents and Webelos II parents that will introduce them to many aspects of Scouting that they may have questions about, such as advancement, camping (winter, summer and high adventure), Scout bucks, the path to Eagle, Order of the Arrow and much more. * Boy Scouts 101 - From Webelos Woods to First Class (AM). The AM session focuses on the new world of Boy Scouts from Webelos Woods to First Class. Subjects covered will include the decision to continue after Cub Scouts, advancement through the ranks to First Class, Patrol Method, troop leadership, prepping for summer camp, Scout Bucks, Court of Honor, relationships with leaders and other parents and other questions, traditions and events that new parents and Scouts will encounter.
* Boy Scouts 101 - From First Class to Eagle and Beyond (PM). The PM session focuses on what to expect as a Scout progresses from First Class to Eagle, including advancement, high adventure camps, NYLT, Jamboree, Order of the Arrow and prepping for the Eagle rank (projects, paperwork, Eagle Court of Honor). Discussion will also include life after attaining the Eagle rank, including NESA, palms, scholarships, military service and the Scout's future as an adult leader.
* Youth Protection Training - Many troops recommend, or even require, all parents involved with the troop to take Youth Protection Training. This class will give parents and adult leaders that may not have time or access to the online training the opportunity to complete the training and receive answers to lingering questions they may have about two-deep leadership, adult leader training, the Guide to Safe Scouting and how safety is addressed at many Boy Scout activities. Uniform: The BSA field uniform (class “A”) is the official uniform of the day. You may be asked to bring additional work clothing in order to participate in your merit badge class.Merit Badge University Code of Conduct: The Scout Oath, Scout Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge University. Any Scout violating the code will be removed from the class and forfeit any individual class fee paid. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit. Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster or other assigned troop leaders.Security: Units will need to exercise their own vigilance. Report any incidents to the event organizers. Clean-Up: A Scout is clean. We are guests of North Arkansas College. As a Scout, " Leave No Trace" is the order of the day. Also, there may be other events on campus. As such, our behavior may determine whether or not North Arkansas College will host this event again. Troop Leaders - please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same (or better) condition as found.

- From the Events page, click on the "Sign Up" link on the line for 2015 Ozark District Merit Badge University at North Arkansas College (very right side of the page).
- Enter the information for each scout: Scout’s name, age, Adult Leader's phone number and email (Adult Leader will be the primary contact for the Scout), session number, and desired merit badge class. NOTE: If you are having trouble finding the desired class, check to see that the correct session (AM, PM, All Day) has been selected. Click "Add" located right under the session block. If signing up an Adult Leader for more than one adult training class, ensure the name, age and email are entered identically or the system will see it as a different participant.
- At least one adult listed at the bottom of the page under Unit Leader Roster must be listed as attending event (choose select/unselect to change attendance event status). This is a limitation in the program and this Merit Badge University is not using the adult attending event field to track adult participation.
If you have any questions, please contact:
Robert Purdy, Merit Badge University Coordinator, Phone: (870) 416-1607; Email: rpurdy59@gmail.com. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- It is very important that when you register a Boy Scout for a badge you enter all relevant contact information to ensure easy contact in case of a change in badge status. After entering the Scout's name, please put the Adult Leader's, parent's or guardian's phone number and e-mail as the Boy Scout's contact information.
- DO NOT enter a Boy Scout's personal contact information.
- DO NOT register a Boy Scout for more than one badge during the same session. If dual registration is done the Scout's name will be removed from both classes.
- All classes have age requirements. Unless otherwise indicated, the minimum age is 10½. Although the class description may say 10, a boy must be at least 10½ to be a Boy Scout.
- Unless otherwise indicated, the maximum number of participants in a class is 15. Registration for each class is “first come – first served".
- Please note that all participants, both adult and youth, are registered by Troop.
Fees: There is no registration fee for Merit Badge University. However, individual class fees may be charged to cover supplies. Please refer to the class description for specific fees for each class. Class fees should be paid at the Registration Desk upon check-in on the day of the event.
Prerequisites: Many classes may not complete all of the requirements necessary to earn the merit badge. Some requirements may need to be completed as prerequisites. (See the course description for a list of prerequisites.) Some requirements may need to be completed afterward using information learned in the class. If the requirements to be completed in class are not listed in the class description, you should contact the Merit Badge Counselor for more information. The Merit Badge Counselor will give credit for completed requirements ONLY. The Scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class, at his own pace and with his own Troop counselors.
Blue Cards: Scouts are required to bring a Blue Card signed by the Scoutmaster. The Merit Badge Counselor will update the card with tasks completed in class and return it to the MBU Coordinator. Unit Leaders must pick up blue cards from the MBU Coordinator or the Registration Desk before leaving the premises at the end of the day.
Workbooks: It is STRONGLY SUGGESTED that Scouts download and use the merit badge workbooks to complete prerequisites before and then for note-taking during the sessions. Worksheets may be REQUIRED for some classes. Worksheets are available at http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Merit_Badge_Worksheets. Unless otherwise indicated in the prerequisites, the Scout is not required to bring the Merit Badge Pamphlet to class, but these pamphlets contain considerable information that would be helpful to completing the merit badge requirements.
Advancement Records: After Merit Badge University, troop leaders will be able to download reports showing unit participation and requirements completed or needed. Please allow a few days after MBU ends for this information to be updated. Video tutorials are available to demonstrate how to create and download these reports.
Tour Permit : Please be advised that in order to participate in this event, a Troop may be required to file a request for a Tour Permit with their local council.
