Meritbadge.Info is aging out!

Rodrigo and Mike started the site after a Wood Badge course in 2005. We used to be a bear and a good ole bear too.  Our goal was to make it easier for event managers to setup, manage, and track merit badge classes without getting mired in reams of paper from the postal service.   

We are proud to say, after nearly 15 years, we offered over 2,800 events, 46,000 classes with over 245,000 participants taking nearly 410,000 seats via 1.4 million visitors. All of this in an hour per week. We realize this will disappoint quite a few loyal scouters who have used and promoted our project for many years.  We cannot tell you how much we have appreciated your feedback, gratitude, and patience when we needed to fix something.  We could not do it without you.

Unfortunately, the site needs a major overhaul. Neither of us has the time to redesign the registration system to meet these emerging requirements.  For this reason, it is time to shut it down. Here is the approach:

If you know someone at BSA national who can provide an API where 1) we send an adult registration number and 2) BSA returns the adult's Council, District, and Unit information, we will keep the website going. 

First, we have disabled the ability to create new events.  The events that are using the registration system up through May 2020 will be honored, but all others events will be blocked.

Second, if you have managed events in the past, we suggest you sign on and create a backup excel file for your records.  We still have adults looking for "blue cards" sometimes over a year after an event. 

Sometime in Q2 2020, we will take the site offline.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

8:00 AM: Registration begins.

Counselors: ALL Merit Badge Counselors need to check-in to pick up their class roster and identification paddle.

8:30 AM:  Assembly, Welcome, Announcements

8:45 AM:   Each Counselor escorts his/her class to the designated area. Scouts must go directly to their MB clinic, no wandering!  ALL Adult Leaders and Scoutmasters will assist our counselors and will help with noise and crowd control at all times.

9:00 AM - 11:00 PM:  Merit Badge Session 1 (There will be staggered, designated break times for all clinics).

11:00 AM - 11:30 PM: LUNCH BREAK. Bring your own lunch!

PARENTS PLEASE RETURN BY 1:00PM IN CASE YOUR SCOUTS CLASS FINISHES EARLY!

1:30 PM:  Merit Badge Day ends. All Scouts must be picked up at this time.



AN ADULT FROM EACH TROOP IS ENCOURAGED TO STAY. (Bring a chair and your lunch.)

 
Description


Registration: Registration fee is $10.00 per Scout. (Exception - Cooking is $18 & Fishing is $16)

All payments must be received via PAYPAL or by snail mail by October 26, 2019 to be eligible. Otherwise, we will drop your online registration and will allow other Scouts to register in your place. Fees are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another scout. MB Counselors require student or parent e-mail or phone for coordination.

Uniform: The Full B.S.A. Class A uniform is the official uniform for the day.

Code of Conduct: The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the guiding behavior for the Merit Badge University. A Scout whose conduct is not consistent with the code will be directed to leave the school grounds immediately. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit. Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster or other assigned leaders in charge of the troop.

Transportation: The Troop Leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. All transportation to and from the Merit Badge University must be arranged within your troop. Encourage everyone to carpool. Please follow the speed limit when driving on the property.

Clean Up: A Scout is Clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the outdoor areas in the same condition as found. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.

Security: Report any incidents to the event organizers.


 
Counselor Information


Blue Cards / Merit Badge Worksheets

All Scouts must bring to class the following:

1. Blue Card filled out with Scout data & signed by their Scoutmaster

2. Printed out Merit Badge worksheet (http://usscouts.org/mb/framesindex.html)

3. Any pre-requisite work

The Blue Card will be updated with tasks completed in class and returned to Scout before they depart. It is the responsibility of the Scout to request and obtain his Blue Card.

Prerequisites: The Merit Badge Counselor will give credit for completed requirements ONLY. The Scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class, at his own pace and with his own troop counselors. Class work will be followed by individual Scout’s projects and his ability to fulfill all requirements.

Advancement Records: After the merit badge event, if you have any questions about the Blue Cards, please visit your unit "Scout Registration" page and "Print Advancement Results" or email the Event Coordinator.

 
Unit Sign-up Instructions


Scout Preparation: Many classes have pre-requisites which must be done if you wish to complete the badge during class. Some classes also have age and/or rank requirements. Read & bring the merit badge booklet if you have it. Unless indicated otherwise, all other requirements for the Merit Badge should be covered in class. All Scouts must bring to class the following:

1. Blue Card filled out with Scout data & SIGNED by their Scoutmaster

2. Merit Badge worksheet (http://usscouts.org/mb/framesindex.html)

3. Any pre-requisite work

4. Writing utensil

Troops: The UNIT LEADER in charge CHECKS IN the troop. Once you have confirmed all of your Scouts are in attendance, please send just one person per Troop to the registration table. Remember... substitutions are allowed, but we cannot add on Scouts or change classes.

 
Payment Instructions for the Unit




The participation fee is $10 per Scout. Additional fees for materials are identified for designated classes. Troops are obligated to pay for the total number of Scouts registered.

To Pay: Please go to the Troop 1134 Paypal:  https://paypal.me/troop1134  In the Notes field enter your Troop # , the names of all attendees, and their course so we can link the payment with your registration. Example:  Troop 1234, John Smith, Cooking  If there is not enough room in the form, please email treasurer@troop1134.org with all of the details.

BY CHECK - Please print two copies of your registration form. Send one copy with complete payment. Retain the other registration copy for your records. Please make Check Payable/Mail to "Troop 1134" and mail to: BSA Troop 1134, 11330 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075

Refunds: The registration fee is non-refundable. The amount paid will be forfeited if the Troop or Scout does not attend. However, Troops may substitute scouts as long as the total number and the Merit Badge doesn’t change.

Get on I-75 N/I-85 N. Keep right at the fork and continue onto I-75 N. Take exit 277 for GA-92 towards Acworth. Turn right onto GA-92 N. Turn left onto Hunt Rd. Continue onto Kellogg Creek Road for almost 4 miles, turning right into Wildlife Action. If you pass Kellogg Drive - you've gone too far!



From I-285:

Travel I-285 to get onto I-75 North. Continue on I-75 North to exit 277. Take exit 277 for GA-92 towards Acworth. Turn right onto GA-92 N. Turn left onto Hunt Rd. Continue onto Kellogg Creek Road for almost 4 miles, turning right into Wildlife Action. If you pass Kellogg Drive - you've gone too far!
