If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

2019

Annual LDS Merit Badge Clinic

Hosted by

The Raleigh, Raleigh South,

and Apex Stakes of

The Church of

Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints

Registration opens at 8:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 12th.

In order to be able to open registration at 8:00 PM Saturday, I must change the date on MeritBadge.info to show a Sunday registration.  Otherwise it would open at midnight Friday.  I’ll change it back to Saturday precisely at 8:00 PM.  I do this so as to not make anyone wait till midnight to register.

Last year, we had 73 different merit badges in 238 sessions. However, this year will be much smaller.  I'll add as many new sessions as I can as more volunteers come forward.

Read about the 2018 LDS Merit Badge Clinic here in The Zebulon Times

We are excited to offer our Merit Badge Clinic again this year.  This will be the 12th iteration of the event that we began in 2008.  Be sure to save-the-date in your family and troop calendars for this year:  November 8 & 9, 2019.

Early registration will be available for units traveling great distances so they can make travel and housing arrangements with the knowledge that their Scouts' MBs are secure.

Early registration is also available to all units associated with staff members.  If adults in a unit are teaching a combination of three or more merit badge sessions, all members of their troop may register early.  It's a small way for us to thank those who make this merit badge event possible.

Visit our website at www.LDSMeritBadgeClinic.com for more information.

Description

Welcome to our annual Merit Badge Clinic.  Each year our commitment is to provide at least 50 different merit badges.  We had 70 or more at each of the past three merit badge events.  Our merit badge clinic is free and open to all Scouts BSA, boys and girls.  This is a "must do" event so put us on your calendar.  It is always the second weekend in November . . . that's November 8 & 9 in 2019.  Check back often to see what merit badges are being added to our catalog.

Visit www.LDSMeritBadgeClinic.com for more information.

Each merit badge is different.  Some can be completed at the Merit Badge Clinic.  Others will require projects outside of class and more than one session.  Your counselor will contact you before the event with a list of prerequisites if needed.  Please come prepared with paper, pencil, and a copy of the MB Requirements book for each merit badge on your schedule.  You will also need to get a signed blue card from your Scoutmaster for each merit badge.  Read your MB Pamphlet, wear your Scout uniform and come prepared to focus, learn, and have some fun.

Thank you for participating.

Counselor Information
For more information about our event

(including instructions to counselors) please visit:

www.LDSMeritBadgeClinic.com

Early on as we set up our site, you will notice a single counselor listed for several merit badges.  Those listed are actually the building captains, and their name appears until the actual counselor gets his/her profile set up on this site.  If you have questions, the building captains can forward your questions to the counselors.

The best place to find the 137 current merit badges & requirements is this official BSA site:  www.scouting.org/scoutsource/boyscouts/guideformeritbadgecounselors/introtomeritbadges.aspx

Unit Sign-up Instructions

How to Register 101:

To register Scouts for the MB event you should pick a single registrar to sign up all the members of your troop/team.  That person needs to be registered with the BSA (have your BSA ID # handy) and be current with youth protection training (you’ll need the date of your training).  Anyone with the above credentials can register a Scout, but it's just a good idea to have one or two doing it for the whole troop.

If you are not already there, go to www.meritbadge.info.  Before going into the event, click on the sign-on
button on the left side of the screen.  Click on register new user or login if you are already a user of this website.

After creating your identity, click on the "
enter registration system" button back on the main page.

Then click on the sign-up button on the left for our event.  That should get you into the system and your name should appear at the bottom of the page.  Now you can register your Scouts for their merit badges.  Input the Scout's name and requested info.  Click on the "Choose Session" drop down on the left and select.  Then on the right, "Choose the Activity" drop down and click on the desired merit badge.  Only merit badges that are still open for that session will appear.  We don't do a waiting list.  If what you want is not listed, go to an alternate merit badge for that Scout.  Then repeat for other merit badges and other scouts.  That should do it. If for some reason your troop leaders cannot register their Scouts, let me know.

Schedule:

Check in Friday: 5:30 PM

Session 1:  6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Check in Saturday: 8:30 AM

Opening Ceremony: 8:45 AM

Session 2:  9:00 AM to Noon

Lunch:  Noon to 12:30 PM

Session 3:  12:30 PM to 3:30 PM

If you only have a Saturday afternoon session, you need not check in in the morning.  Simply come a few minutes before your 12:30 session and let us know you are there.

If taking a combo merit badge, be sure to sign up for both merit badges.  For example, if you take the Welding/Farm Mechanics combo, be sure to sign up for both the Welding merit badge and the Farm Mechanics merit badge in the same time slot for both.

"How do I get the six merit badges listed as possible in the '# badges a single scout can attend' section in the event details at the top of this page?"

Most Scouts will earn a total of three merit badges; one for each 3-hour session attended.  Some will earn less if they enroll in a Merit Badge that takes two sessions to complete such as Horsemanship or Aviation.  However, each year we have some sessions during which a Scout could earn two merit badges.  Entrepreneurship/Salesmanship combo is such a class.  On the rare occasion that a Scout signed up for three “double” MB sessions, he could feasibly earn six merit badges.  It’s never happened, but I list it as a possibility in case it ever does.  (Actually, it did happen in 2014.  One scout took my comments as a challenge and signed up for three doubles and worked on six merit badges.)  Way to go!

For more information, contact the MB Clinic Director,

Steve Hanna, with questions

stevehanna@email.com (preferred)

Payment Instructions for the Unit
There is no cost to attend this event, however, we are asking Scouts to bring some non-perishable foods for donation to local food banks.  We recommend four or five cans or boxes per merit badge, but whatever you can bring will be appreciated.

Additionally, selected merit badges may have a small materials fee.  For example, a Scout may need to pay for a rocket kit for the Space Exploration MB or pay for materials for Art or Cooking merit badges.  This fee will be paid directly to your counselor.  He/she will notify Scouts about fee payments before the MB Clinic.  Usually, you may bring cash or a check made out to the counselor on the day of your session.

To ensure having the kit in time, Scouts taking Electronics MB on Saturday in Wake Forest must make their $10 materials fee through PayPal to https://paypal.me/BSATroop303NC/10

Since there is no entrance fee, Scouts WILL need to bring their own lunch.  We will, however, provide a drink.  We will also have some extra PB&J and bread on hand for anyone who forgets their lunch.  Often Scout leaders will bring chips, cookies, etc. to add to the table for sharing at lunchtime.

Patch Trading:  Since we have Scouts coming from over a dozen different states (35+ different councils), it has been suggested that we should have a patch trading area.  We will have a table at each location, where Scouts can visit and trade patches during their lunch break.  Don't forget to grab a handful of patches for trading when you pack for this event.  (Sorry . . . no skipping MB sessions to trade patches!)

Scouts will need to be taken to these locations by parents or leaders.

Addresses are posted in the "Location" column.

Release Information
If you are attending as a unit, please remember to bring your parent permission and health forms for your participating Scouts.  This is not required if parents are just bringing their own children.  Each Scout in the building needs to have an adult available in the building who could be contacted in the event of an emergency.  We realize a unit leader or parent may be there for several Scouts.  Please leave a cell number at check-in so that you could be easily reached no matter where you are in the building.

Other items to remember:

Scouts in Field (Class A) uniform.

A signed blue card for each MB session attended.

Each Scout's own sack lunch.

A donation of non-perishable foods for the Food Bank.

Paper and pencil and a copy of the MB pamphlet if possible.

Cash or a check for any special fees required for your merit badge.

A cell phone number for the responsible adult (leader or parent) for each Scout in case of an emergency.

Permission forms for all merit badges with field trips.  Please use this form:

http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/19-673.pdf

If climbing at Triangle Rock Club, fill out this permission form:

This year, our Climbing MB session has fallen short of the needed minimum number to execute.  However, we will be offering this again in 2019.  It will be a great deal for a larger troop who wants to have an exceptional experience.

To clarify, during the Climbing MB Team Building event, Scouts will complete requirements 1a, 3, 4c, 4d, 5b, 6, 7, 10a.

Then during the Climbing MB Lock-in event, Scouts will complete requirements 4a, 4b, 5a, 5c, 5d, 8, 10b.

These requirements will NOT be done at either event:  1b, 1c, 2, 5b, 9, 11, and 12.

Fee for the Lock-in will depend on the number of Scouts enrolled.  If we have 25 Scouts it will be $30/Scout.

For twelve Scouts, the fee would be $62.50/Scout.  Adults may climb too if they pay the same price as the Scouts.  The minimum cost per Scout is $20.  We reach this price point if we have 38 Scouts and leaders who climb.  Our total cost is $750, so divide that amount by the number of Scouts who register.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a large troop to get a great deal on climbing instruction.  No money will be collected until we have a price to which all parents/leaders agree.  If interested, contact me at stevehanna@email.com by mid-October 2019
