Meritbadge.Info lives!

Jamie Leonard, A fellow scouter in Oskaloosa Iowa and David Landriam-Shrewsbury from NE Georgia introduced us to the Chief Scout Executive who then introduced us to Vijay Challa and Norbert Harasimiuk, the BSA National IT team.  We met with Vijay and Norbert Friday Jan 10th and had a highly rewarding discussion.  Thanks to everyone involved, we will not be shutting down  If you know Jamie or David, thank them for leading the charge to make this happen.

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do?
Login to and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

(3694 Kennesaw S Industrial Dr Nw, Unit B, Kennesaw, GA 30144)

When: 8:30pm on Friday, August 30thuntil 9am on Saturday, August 31st, 2019

Why: Way too many reasons to list but how about: because it will be fun, you’ll get to hang with members of other girl troops, and you’ll work on earing a cool merit badge

What does it cost: $40 per scout if paying by check ($41.50 if paying via pay pal to cover fees). This includes a snack in the late evening (because climbing makes everyone hungry) as well as breakfast in the morning before leaving. $18 per each adult leader or parent ($18.85 if paying via pay pal to cover fees) attending. These costs are regardless if the scout/leader/parent are just coming for the climbing portion or to stay overnight. All adults who stay the night MUST have a valid YPT Certificate to show upon arrival.

What to bring: A Blue Card filled out and signed by your Scoutmaster as well as your completed Scouts BSA Health Form Parts A & B. Make sure you wear socks and sneakers as well as comfortable clothing you can climb in. Bring a filled water bottle. You'll want a sleeping bag and pillow (maybe a small ground pad) but there will no room for cots or air mattresses. Grab your toothbrush, pajamas and come ready to have some fun!

Trained Merit Badge Counselors will be provided by Esclade Rock Gym (as well as from Troop 444) to help all of the Scouts with the requirements.

How do I sign up: Individual Scouts or Units can sign up at OR by email Alison Fox at  Payment can be made via pay pal ($41.50 per scout or $18.85 per adult) or by check ($40 per scout /$18 per adult). If you would like to pay by check please send Alison an email and she will provide you with the address. Pay pal payments can be made at - please note on the payment your scout's name(s), troop, and that it’s for the climbing merit badge clinic.

We will be sending out more information as the event gets closer as well as a waiver to be signed that is required by the gym – so be sure to have a valid email address where you can be reached. Also please alert us to any food allergies.

One more thing: To make sure we have enough adult leaders we are asking each troop with girls attending to have at least one adult leader attend. If this isn’t possible please drop Alison an email to work something out as we want all scouts to be able to attend this awesome event!!
