GOOD NEWS

Meritbadge.Info lives!

Jamie Leonard, A fellow scouter in Oskaloosa Iowa and David Landriam-Shrewsbury from NE Georgia introduced us to the Chief Scout Executive who then introduced us to Vijay Challa and Norbert Harasimiuk, the BSA National IT team.  We met with Vijay and Norbert Friday Jan 10th and had a highly rewarding discussion.  Thanks to everyone involved, we will not be shutting down meritbadge.info.  If you know Jamie or David, thank them for leading the charge to make this happen.

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Payment Instructions for the Unit
Payment:

Troops are obligated to pay for the total number of Scouts registered and their associated fees. Registration is not complete without payment.

The participation fee is $25 per Scout which includes lunch if you sign up and pay by February 22, 2020. Additional fees for materials are identified for designated classes when registering. Leaders and Parents may pre-purchase a lunch online for $10 at the same time as you register the scout. After February 22, 2020 there is an additional late fee of $10 per scout if Troop has not paid all fees due prior to February 22, 2020 (total due $35.00 per scout plus any fees for class). Registration is not complete and a spot in class is not confirmed until payment is completed.

Refunds: The registration and materials fee is non-refundable. The amount paid will be forfeited if the Troop or Scout does not attend. However, Troops may substitute scouts as long as the total number and the Merit Badge doesn’t change.

Once you have registered all of your scouts, click the Show & Print Roster button at the top of the page,  then Go to File > Print in your Internet Browser. THIS IS YOUR ORDER FORM AND BILL.
