Meritbadge.Info lives!

Jamie Leonard, A fellow scouter in Oskaloosa Iowa and David Landriam-Shrewsbury from NE Georgia introduced us to the Chief Scout Executive who then introduced us to Vijay Challa and Norbert Harasimiuk, the BSA National IT team.  We met with Vijay and Norbert Friday Jan 10th and had a highly rewarding discussion.  Thanks to everyone involved, we will not be shutting down  If you know Jamie or David, thank them for leading the charge to make this happen.

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do?
Login to and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Counselor Information
All Scouts must bring the following to class:

- Blue Card SIGNED by their Scoutmaster (one per each Merit Badge)

- Merit Badge booklet and Merit Badge worksheet... Worksheets

- Any prerequisite work

The Blue Cards are to be updated with tasks completed in class and returned to the Scouts BEFORE they depart the classroom. It is the responsibility of the Scout to request and obtain his Blue Card.

PREREQUISITES: The Merit Badge Counselors will give clear, advance notice of their prerequisites for their Merit Badge class. The Merit Badge Counselors will give credit for completed requirements ONLY. The Scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class either because of Merit Badge project work or because of prerequisites that were not completed before the class. These will be done at the Scouts own pace and with his own troop counselors.

MERIT BADGE BOOKLETS:   These booklets can be borrowed from your Troop's Librarian, or ordered from The Atlanta Area Scout shop, via phone (770) 988-9912, via the internet  click here, or by visiting The Atlanta Area Scout shop at 1800 Circle 75 Parkway, SE, Atlanta, GA 30339.

ADVANCEMENT RECORDS:   After this Merit Badge event, if you have any questions about the Blue Cards, please visit your Unit's "Scout Registration" page at and print the "Advancement results".

Unit Sign-up Instructions

1. Each unit must provide one adult for every 4 boys who participate. This will help us with crowd control, as well as insure quality of results within the classroom environment.

2. Scouts must have prior approval from their Scoutmaster before attending.

3. Scouts must behave in a Scout-like manner. Disruptive youth will be removed from the group and either spend the remainder of the day with their Scoutmaster or be picked up by their parent/guardian.

Note: The Unit adults are responsible for the scouts who attend.

RIGHT TO LIMIT OR CANCEL:  The Merit Badge Clinic will reserve the right to limit or cancel any class. Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and class minimums. No walk-ins will be allowed. Registration by Troop is mandatory. Open and ending enrollment will be limited to the dates above indicated.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE:  Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.

EXPECTATION:   Scouts are strongly encouraged to read the Merit Badge Booklet and finish all prerequisites before attending the Merit Badge Clinic.

UNIFORM:  The Full B.S.A. Class A uniform is the official uniform for the day. The merit badge sash may also be worn.

CODE OF CONDUCT:  The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge Day. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit.

TRANSPORTATION:  The troop Leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. Please advise your parents not to drop off or pick up scouts. All transportation to and from the Merit Badge Clinic must be arranged within your troop. Encourage everyone to carpool. Troops may not leave Scouts by themselves to be picked up by parents at a later time. We are not resourced to render sitting services.

CLEAN UP:  The Scout is clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same condition as found. Future offerings of the Merit Badge Clinic will largely depend on how neat we leave the place. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.

Payment Instructions for the Unit

Please send payment to PayPal via this link

The participation fee per scout is $10 per class. Any additional fees for materials are indicated for designated classes. Troops are obligated to pay for the total number of Scouts registered from their troop.

Lunch is $5.00

Please note that we will only entertain 'online' registrations. Do not send payments unless you are already registered online. If you registered a Scout that will not be attending, please remove him from the registration so that other Scouts can benefit.

So that we can carefully manage classroom size, we request that you not ask Merit Badge Counselors to accept Scouts into their classes outside of using the online registration tool.

Once payment is received the registration fee is non-refundable. If the Scout does not attend on the day of the clinic, the amount paid will be forfeited.  However, troops may substitute Scouts 1 for 1 in the same class.
