  • Eagles@GeorgiaTech Student Organization

Description
The Sustainability Merit Badge Seminarand Forum requires Scouts to attend two sessions separated by a minimum of one month to complete all of the Sustainability merit badge requirements.

Seminar— Session Part 1

The Seminar session is designed to teach the principles of Sustainable Development as they relate to the Sustainability merit badge requirements.  The Seminar will facilitate a series of educational videos and engaging group discussions.  After attending the Seminar session, participants will work at home with family members to complete the remaining merit badge requirements.

Forum— Session Part 2

After a minimum of one month and completing the home and family related Sustainability merit badge requirements, Scouts will return to participate in the Forum session to discuss what they have learned about Sustainability.  The Forum will present a Sustainable Development theme and Scouts will work in collaborative groups to discuss how they can apply what they have learned in their community.

Adult Youth Protection Training:  Every Adult Scouter attending the event must either show proof of current youth protection training at check-in or become current in their training during the event.

Uniform:  The full B.S.A. Class A uniform is the official uniform of the day. The merit badge sash may also be worn.

Scout Email Address – Telephone Number:  The online registration system requests the email address and telephone number for Scouts participating in the event.  This is intended to facilitate the Merit Badge Counselor providing information regarding prerequisites and material that will be covered in class to the Scouts prior to the event.  In the spirit of B.S.A. Youth Protection guidelines, please provide an email address and/or telephone number for the Scout’s parents or adult leader rather than the individual Scout.
