If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Description
Event Schedule:

Flags at 8:30

First Session from 9:00-12:00am.

Lunch from 11:30 to 1:00

Second Session from 1:00-4:00pm.

Counselors:

All merit badge counselors are CTC staff, former students, Scouters or advisory board members.

Cost:

Cost will be $12.00 per scout and $5.00 for parents who want lunch. There is no charge for adult volunteers. There is no reduction for only attending half the day.  Payment will need to be made to 'Merit Badge Tech' for the event.

Lunch:

Lunch will be provided. Vegetarian or special dietary lunches are the responsibility of the Scout and his parent or guardian.

Overview:

  • All boys age 11-17 are welcome to attend.  Some badges have age requirements and some also have safety requirements for attire (for example Welding).  Some badges should be done by older scouts only, like Personal Management, because the subject matter may be hard for younger scouts.  Please use your best judgement when signing your scout up for merit badges.

  • Each scout will have the opportunity to work on two different merit badges. The approach this year is for the scout to complete prerequisites prior to Merit Badge Tech so they can complete the merit badge that day. Some of them will not be able to be completed in one day and will require follow up work. A complete list of those requirements is online at http://meritbadge.info/mbn/.

  • Merit badge reports will be sent to the Scoutmasters after the event. Scouts do not need to bring Blue Cards with them!

  • Registration online is mandatory.  Registered attendees will get a special patch!

  • This day is intended to have the scout complete two merit badges while learning a little about CTC and its programs. Scouts need to download, print and bring with them the merit badge worksheets from http://www.usscouts.org/ for badges they are going to work on. Pre Req have to be completed ahead of time.

Counselor Information
Unit Sign-up Instructions

Online registration is mandatory.  Payment must be received within one week of your registration or your spots may be freed up for other scouts.  There are a limited number of seats in each classroom and we want to fill them up with scouts who want to learn and finish the badge.

Check back to see if spots have opened up.

We would like to avoid giving out partials.  Please remind your scouts to do their pre-requisites ahead of time to set them up for success.

Check in will be done after flags in each scout's first class to avoid the long registration lines in the past.  Helpers will be on site to direct scouts to their first room if they need help.

We would like to have a second adult in every classroom for Merit Badge Tech.  This assistant will help with paperwork, crowd control and whatever the merit badge counselor needs help with.  Please contact Deb Lannen, lannen@charter.net, if you are able to assist during one or both sessions.  If you have a preference for assisting with a particular merit badge, please indicate that in the email.

Some badges are in combination sessions.  If you register for one of these badges you must register for the other one as well.  For example, if a scout picks "Architecture" for the AM-A&D session they need to select "Drafting" for the AM-A&D session.  Both badges will be taught in the same 3 hour block.  If the scout took another combination session in the PM they could earn 4 badges at MB Tech (assuming they do all the prerequisite work).  Badges that are taught together have their own special sessions listed for either AM or PM using an abbreviation of the badges taught.  You must register for the other badge, even if the scout has the badge already.  This is so we do not end up with different scouts signed up for different badges in the same combination session.  Some of the badges take more time than others so each of the combination badges will be done on their own schedule in the 3 hour time block.
