If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

2015 Richardson Stake Merit Badge Pow-Wow

Annual Merit Badge Pow-Wow sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Richardson Texas Stake

Description

Session 1 - Saturday, April 11, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Session 2 - Saturday, April 25, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Attendance will be required at BOTH sessions.

Scouts will have a choice of taking up to 3 merit badges, depending upon class length.  Classes will either be 1 or 2 hours long.

IMPORTANT:  Please observe Class time/length for each badge when signing up your Scouts!!

Classes are at 9:00am, 10:00am, & 11:00am each Saturday.

If a Scout chooses 1 hour classes only, then 3 merit badges may be taken.

If a Scout chooses a 2 hour class, then he may also choose an additional 1 hour class, totaling 2 merit badges taken.

Fingerprinting will only be offered April 11th.

Golf will only be offered April 25th.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Please instruct your Scout(s) that work outside of class will be required and to complete all required work prior to or between sessions (this is the reason for the 2 weeks between sessions).

  • Not all badges can be completed during the Pow-Wow sessions (i.e. Family Life, Citizenship badges, Camping, Golf, etc.).  The class is designed to assist the Scout in accomplishing all requirements that can possibly be completed in a classroom setting.  Some require record-keeping, letters to be written, trips to be taken, etc.

  • Some badges may have a cost associated with it, due to materials that must be used by the Scout.  If a cost is necessary, it will be listed with the Merit Badge being offered.  Each Scout must bring the money with them, or the appropriate supplies on their own.

Counselor Information
COUNSELOR INFORMATION:

Here are some important details:

1) Dates: April 11 and April 25, 2015  (2 Saturdays with a break in-between)

2) Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

3) Location: LDS Church, 900 South Bowser Road, Richardson TX 75081

4) If something comes up and you are not able to make it, please find a substitute, and let us know.

5) Check-in at the registration desk (West Foyer) and pick-up a “Packet” for each class you are teaching.

If you teach multiple classes, you will receive multiple packets.

6) Within each packet will be a roster and an abbreviated list of the requirements for the merit badge.

7) It is Extremely important to complete the roster and the requirements checklist each week.

8) Turn in the packet each week at the registration desk before you leave.

9) Classes are either 1 or 2 hours (there is one 3 hour exception).  We will ring a bell every 55 minutes to alert you.

10) Please dismiss class at by the time the bell rings (55 or 115 minutes into your class) to give the scouts enough time to get a drink, go to the bathroom and make it to their next class

11) Blue cards:

We will NOT be providing Blue Cards, instead, we will do the same thing that summer camps usually do, that is, a detailed list of which scouts attended and which requirements they completed will be provided to each troop (or to whoever requests a copy). If anyone has any questions about the Blue Cards, have them see their Scoutmaster. All summary information will be provided to each respective Scoutmaster. Note: “Blue Cards” are only a mechanism meant to assist in the merit badge process, they are not “required” to prove completion. The troop advancement person needs only have the relevant information to enter the completed, or partial completed, merit badge information into the troops advancement database and into the councils online advancement database. Occasionally, we get a scout leader or parent who insists they must have a “blue card”, in those cases we just do the best we can to accommodate them.

12) If a scout asks for a blue card, let them know that a summary sheet will be provided their troop. If they are the only scout from their troop, direct them to the registration desk.

13) If a scout brings a blue card from their scout master, and if that scout completes all of the requirements, then sign the card and return it.

14) There will be several master lists of the classes and which scouts are to be where, available in the lobby near the registration desk

15) Each room will have a sign identifying the merit badge being taught

16) Each room will be setup with the number of chairs needed (if possible)

17) The last class in the room should put the chairs up before you leave.

18) Encourage the scouts to be respectful of the facilities.

19) Direct any problems to the registration desk.

20) Have fun!

  • April 11, 2015, from 9:00am to 12:00pm

  • April 25, 2015, from 9:00am to 12:00pm

All classes span both mornings (except for Fingerprinting & Golf).

When registering individual Scouts through the on-line registration system, the Troop Merit Badge Coordinator (usually the Scoutmaster) is requested to provide an email address for the parent of each Scout. (Please provide an email address for the Scouts parents rather than the individual Scout.) This will allow Merit Badge Counselors the ability to pass information pertaining to their classes directly to parents prior to the merit badge event.

Classes are either 1 hour/day or 2 hours/day (one class spans 3 hours/day and is the only exception).  If taking only 1 hour classes, up to 3 classes may be taken.  If taking a 2 hour class, then only 1 additional class may be taken.  Please review your schedule to ensure no classes overlap.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MORE THAN ONE MERIT BADGE AT THE SAME CLASS TIME!

FEES:

1. There are no registration fees.

2.  If there is a supply cost, it will be noted in the class description.

RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:

1. Each unit is requested to provide one adult for every 4 boys who participate. This will help us with crowd control, as well as insure quality of results within the classroom environment.

2. Scouts must have prior approval from their Scoutmaster before attending.

3. Scouts must behave in a Scout-like manner. Disruptive youth will be removed from the group and either spend the remainder of the day with their Scoutmaster or be picked up by their parent/guardian.

Note: The Unit adults are responsible for the scouts who attend.

RIGHT TO LIMIT OR CANCEL:

Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and/or class size.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE:

Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.

EXPECTATIONS:

Scouts are strongly encouraged to read the Merit Badge Booklet and finish all pre-requisites before attending the Merit Badge PowWow.

UNIFORM:

Scouts are encouraged to wear their scout uniform, or at least their scout shirt (properly tucked in, of course!).

CODE OF CONDUCT:

The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge Day. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit. Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster or other assigned leaders in charge of the troop.

TRANSPORTATION:

The troop Leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. Please advise your parents of the starting and ending times. A Troop representative must be sure each Scout from their troop is picked before they, themselves, leave.  Scout leaders should ensure that any activity or release forms are filled out prior to travel.

CLEAN UP:

The Scout is clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same condition as found. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.

PREREQUISITES:

The Merit Badge Counselor will ONLY give credit for completed requirements. The scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class at his own pace and with his own troop counselors. Class work may be followed by homework and individual scout projects.  It is up to each scout to fulfill all requirements.

ADVANCEMENT RECORDS:

We will NOT be providing Blue Cards; instead, we will do the same thing that summer camps usually do - that is, a detailed list of which scouts attended and which requirements they completed will be provided to each troop leader (or to whomever requests a copy).

Scouts who do not complete all requirements will be issued "partial" completions, meaning, as stated above, that only the completed requirements will be listed.  Some badges just cannot be completed in 2 weeks (Camping, Family Life, etc.) and are, by nature, only able to be issued as "partials" until the remaining requirements are met.  It is the intent of this Pow-Wow for the scouts to complete all requirements possible during the 2 sets of morning classes.

PREREQUISITES/WORK OUTSIDE OF CLASS:

Some classes have prerequisites or work which must be completed outside of class in order to complete the badge. Some classes also have age and/or rank requirements. Scouts are strongly advised to READ and BRING the Merit Badge pamphlet for their badge(s) and bring any prerequisite work/proof with them.

2 Dentistry merit badge has an extra activity which must be completed to earn the badge.  Golf merit badge will go over the classroom portion; the instructor will schedule a time in between weeks with the boys and their dads so they can meet on the driving range as a group to go over other requirements.
