Prerequisites for this Activity

Scouts should read the Merit Badge book and complete the worksheet for Requirements 1,2,3,4

Be Prepared   to discuss them in class.

(Remember I'm not a teacher I'm a Scouter and Geologist so  the class will be pretty fast paced. )

The class will emphasize the Sedimentary option 5a.  However If the scout wants to do  Energy, Mineral Resource or Earth History before the class that is fine with me.  He will have to email me which option he is working on and bring in the some proof (specimens photos etc). I will discuss and Burn/demonstrate/show some pretty cool examples of Energy resources.

There are few streams and outcrops nearby, we may not get the chance to see them so I ask that you verify that the Scout has made a trip to the Museum or Geology Department ( 6a).(Note the typo in the new edition, There are two sets of requirement "5")  I will discuss fossil preservation at the class.  if you go to Tellus Museum Ask to say Hello to Dr. Julian Gray.  He is an avid supporter of the Atlanta Geological Society or if you go to Fernbank say Hello to Ms. Chris Bean she is excellent too!

Let me know if you have any questions.
