Description
Morning Classes - 9:45am-11:45am

  • Merit Badge Counselor Orientation*
(Register for BOS Merit Badge Counselor Orientation)
This module will guide new and potential merit badge counselors through their responsibilities in the role and will give them an understanding of the methods of counseling Scouts. It is intended as a short orientation course for new merit badge counselors before they begin working with Scouts and a refresher for current Merit Badge Counselors.

  • Celebrating 100 years of Scouting
(Register for GEN Celebrating 100 years of Scouting)
A presentation of the History of the Boy Scouts of America over the past 100 years.

  • Safe Swim Defense*/Safety Afloat*
(Register for ALT Safe Swim defense)
Safe Swim Defense - Before a BSA group may engage in swimming activities of any kind, a minimum of one adult leader must complete Safe Swim Defense training, have a commitment card (No. 34243) with them, and agree to use the eight defenses in the plan.
Safety Afloat - Before a BSA group may engage in an excursion, expedition, or trip on the water (canoe, raft, sailboat, motorboat, rowboat, tube, or other craft), adult leaders for such activity must complete Safety Afloat Training, have a commitment card with them, and be dedicated to full compliance with all nine points of Safety Afloat.

  • Webelos to Scout Transition
(Register for CUB Webelos to Boy Scouts)
Boy Scouts is a whole lot different than Cub Scouts or Webelos Scouts. The idea of graduating from a Cub Scout pack to a Boy Scout troop may be intimidating for some Webelos Scouts and their parents. This discussion describes some best methods used to increase the percentage of Webelos successfully transitioning into Troops.
Afternoon Classes - 1:15pm-3:15pm

  • Troop Committee Challenge*
(Register for BOS Troop Committee Challenge)
This fun and interactive training serves as a vital tool for new troop committee members as well as for veterans. The mission of the Troop Committee Challenge training is to help each troop committee work as a team to improve the Scouting experience for adult and youth members.

  • Camping Equipment
(Register for GEN Outdoor Skills – Camping)
An interesting discussion about camping equipment, gear designed for High Adventure, and places to help equip new campers with quality, yet inexpensive, equipment.

  • Climb On Safely Orientation*
(Register for GEN Climb on Safely)
Climb On Safely Orientation is designed to help adult leaders organize a climbing and rappelling program for their unit, similar to Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. It is not designed to teach leaders how to instruct BSA youth in the skills of climbing and/or rappelling. Teaching climbing or rappelling requires a trained climbing instructor who meets the criteria under "qualified instructors" in Climb On Safely.

  • Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop*
(Register for GEN Leave No Trace)
The third tier of Leave No Trace training is the Awareness Workshop. An Awareness Workshop is any formal Leave No Trace presentation that is one-day or less in length. These presentations can include a wide variety of programs ranging from a 30-minute presentation to a day-long workshop. These workshops are designed for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Scouters and others interested in Leave No Trace skills and ethics.

* The sessions marked with an asterisk will provide certificates or trained cards for attending these sessions.
