Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Welcome to Blue Ridge Council Merit Badge University 2019!  We will be changing things a little bit this year by offering it over 2 weekends, January 19 and January 26, so sign up for both weekends.  First weekend will be mainly at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and various satellite locations.  Second weekend will focus on Roper Mountain Science Center for a weekend of STEM merit badges.  We will be adding classes as we confirm instructors so check back often.  We hope this change will allow scouts to have new experiences as they travel on their journey to First Class or Eagle Scout.   In the case of severe weather, we will move the weekends back to February 16th or 23rd, if needed.  We always need volunteers to help us with two deep leadership so make sure your troop has volunteers ready to go, if needed.



Registration will close on January 7th.  This allows us time to get rosters ready and instructors to be able to reach out to their scouts and parents.  Payments will be due by January 4th at 4pm and scouts will be dropped from classes on January 5th.    Refunds will be given if we have a severe weather postponement.   



Scouts will need pen, paper and merit badge worksheets (instructors will not have them).  If a class goes past 1pm, they will need to bring a lunch.  Please see additional instructions under each merit badge.



Don't miss out on Adult Training offered:  Scoutmaster Specific and Committee.

No early or late arrivals for merit badge classes as this is disruptive to other scouts and the instructors.

Unit Sign-up Instructions
Units may decide to register scouts through the group or have parent/guardian register individually.  PLEASE use the participant scout's parent/guardian phone and email so counselors can contact them with information directly.



Every youth should have paper, pen and merit badge worksheets printed and ready to use.  Please see prerequisites for each merit badge to see what will not be covered in the classes and for class ending times.  If the class goes past 1pm, each youth will need to bring a bag lunch.



Please check back often to make sure you have the latest details on the event as we will be adding prerequisites, merit badges and updated information throughout the registration period.



**Aviation Merit Badge -  January 26.  Separate payments required.  $10 MBU Fee to Blue Ridge Council.  Additonal fee for the merit badge (approximately $70) will be a check made out to Troop 9 and brought the day of the event, includes lunch and flight. In the event of bad weather, refunds for the flight costs will be refunded within two weeks.  All participants have received an email with letter containing instructions and forms to be signed.



** Robotics Merit Badge - Research ahead req. #2 & #7, document in a notebook and bring to class.  Prior to class visit http://www.usfirst.org/whatsgoingon for info on competitions to complete requirement #6.
