Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.  

How will we do this? 

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Registration and Mandatory Orientation:

 

To register, call The Dive Shop at (804) 270-0700 to pay your hold-a-spot deposit.

 

After registering, please go to the Dive Shop, 9320 W Broad Street, Richmond at your earliest convenience for a mandatory orientation.  Both parent and child must attend.  You will fill out paperwork, get sized for equipment, and receive your crew pack with study materials.  

 

Bring a copy of BSA Health Form Part A&B.  Include copy of insurance card.

 

Prerequisites:

 

~ Must have earned swimming merit badge before beginning work on this merit badge.

~ Must have passed BSA swim test within 12 months of July 30, 2018.  Use this form:

~ Complete study materials in crew pack.

~ Merit badge requirement #6.

Cost and payments:

 

Cost:  $475

 

Fee includes crew pack, PADI certification, use of all equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, regulator,

air tank, etc.), pool fees, lake entrance fees, transportation, and lunch each day.

 

Payments may be made to The Dive Shop by calling (804) 270-0700. Tell them you’re with the

merit badge class.

$100 refundable deposit due upon registration to hold your spot.

$175 by June 15, 2018

$200 by July 19, 2018

 

Cancellation:  Should you need to cancel, a full refund is available through July 25.  If you received

a crew pack, it needs to be returned unopened; otherwise, there is $100 fee for the materials.  After

July 25, no refund is available, but you may attend one of the other regular classes.  There would

be an additional $50 rescheduling fee.

 

What to bring:

 

Swimsuit.  Swim shirt if desired.

Sunscreen

Towel

Dry clothes for ride home

Water bottle

Crew pack

Blue card

 

The use of all necessary equipment is included in the fee (we’re borrowing the equipment).  Should

you wish to purchase any equipment, The Dive Shop offers 25% off to participants.
