Event Policies
General
A Scout must BE PREPARED. It is the responsibility of the Scout to complete all requirements and/or prerequisites for any merit badge he chooses to work on. The counselor is there to provide assistance and additional information to the Scout concerning that merit badge.
Prerequisites & Requirements Completed Before the Event
Some merit badges have specific are or rank prerequisites. For some merit badges, Scouts are provided requirements that they can complete on their own prior to attending the merit badge class. (See below for prerequisites.) If a scout has completed those requirements, then they may be able to complete the merit badge on the day of the event. If they do not, they may complete them at a later date and can make arrangements to meet at a later date with the merit badge counselor. Scouts are expected to have read the merit badge booklet and bring the appropriate blue card signed by their scoutmaster to their class.
Attendance & Participation
Scouts MUST be registered in the class on meritbadge.info and MUST have paid online at www.sfbac.org. Scouts who show up at this event without preregistering will be turned away, as there will be no openings in the classes.
Tardiness is not permitted. Scouts arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed to enter the classroom. No refunds will be issued for Scouts who do not attend class due to tardiness.
Scouts are expected to participate in all class discussions. Scouts should ask questions, and be ready to answer questions when asked. Counselors reserve the right to call on any Scout to answer questions about the material, even if he does not volunteer.
Should the Scout not do the work to complete a requirement for the merit badge, it is their responsibility to complete it before it will be signed off on by the counselor. While much of the required material is presented during the workshops, that does not necessarily count as the Scout having completed it.
Blue cards
In order to receive credit for any merit badge, scouts must bring their blue card to all classes and must have completed all requirements. The blue card must be filled out completely by the Scout. Blue cards must be signed by the Scoutmaster of the Scout's troop before counselors will sign off on it.

A: Classes will held in the various classrooms or gymnasium of the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 48950 Green Valley Road, Fremont, CA 94538. Scouts will receive the locations of their classes at the time of check-in. There will be volunteers assisting scouts to the correct classrooms. One or two classes may meet outdoors.
Q: Do any classes leave the primary location?
A: No; however, the Geology class provides a field trip to the Children’s Natural History Museum in order to complete some of the requirements. Some classes may be meeting outdoors, so dress accordingly.
Q: Where will parking be available?
A: You will be able to park in the church parking lot. For those dropping off their scouts, please be careful of pedestrians walking in the parking lot.
Q: By what time should I be there?
A: Check-in and registration will begin promptly at 8:00 am. However, due to the substantial number of scouts, parents, and scout leaders that we are expecting to be at the event, it is NOT recommended to arrive long after the check-in time.
Q: Where will check-in be?
A: Check-in will be conducted at clearly indicated tables at the entrance from the parking lot in the back of the church.
Q: What should my scout wear?
A: ALL scouts are expected to be attired in class A uniform. The primary reason for this is security, so that we know your scout is associated with Scouts BSA.
Q: I didn't register my scout online. Can I bring him/her to attend this event and try to walk into a class?
A: No. Scouts who are not preregistered online and paid online will be turned away.
