If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

General Information:

Fearful Symmetry is a Cub Scout Nova award and is for Cub Scouts only. Only Wolves, Bears, Webelos, and Arrow Of Light Scouts can earn Nova awards. This course ends at noon.

All other courses are merit badges and are not available to Cub Scouts. Merit badges can only be earned by registered members of troops, crews, ships, and the Scouts BSA Lone Scout program under the age of 18. All merit badge courses end at 4PM.

All Scouts must bring a signed permission slip. This is a new requirement. These will be collected at check-in.

Adults who stay for the day must register in advance and meet the requirements listed in the Adult Volunteers section.

What to Bring:

  • Paper and a pen or pencil.

  • Lunch

  • Completed Duke University permission slip (for Scouts)

  • Scouts attending merit badge sessions should bring a merit badge blue card with them.  The name of the merit badge, Scout's name and information, and unit leader signature should be completed before arrival.

Adult volunteers:

We need additional adult volunteers to hellp with record keeping, crowd control, etc.  In order to help us for BSA youth protection purposes, adults must have a current BSA youth protection training certification and be registered in a position that requires a BSA background check.  Current registration in positions that require payment of national dues (e.g. Scoutmaster, committee member, assistant den leader) or current registration as a merit badge counselor, Nova counselor, or Supernova mentor meet this requirement.  Individuals who are registered as lion partners, tiger partners, and executive officers do not meet this requirement unless they are also registered in a qualifying position, such as those listed in the previous sentence.

Under the terms of Duke University’s youth protection policies, all adults who will be interacting with Minors as part of the Merit Badge College and STEM University must complete the Duke Minors Training annually and undergo a background check.  The policy training materials consist of a video (approximately 16 minutes) and policy workbook (24 pages, including practice quiz) and can be accessed at https://forms.hr.duke.edu/minors/training/ .  After reviewing the policy training materials, adults must successfully complete a training quiz to confirm their understanding of the material. A link to the quiz and background check form will be sent to you by Duke after you register for the event.  The subject of the email is "Required Background Check, Training for: Merit Badge College 2019".  Please note that the process of generating these messages is not automated, so these messages are not sent immediately.

The best time to do this is between 10 and noon. I will sign off on this if the Scout attends the session for one hour, discusses it with me for 10 minutes afterward, and then shows me his 250-word synopsis.
