If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

  • You the leader are responsible for printing and providing the forms to your scouts. None will be provided for you.

  • It is the scouts’ responsibility to take the Merit Badge Form to class, get it signed, and turn back to Scoutmaster. If a scout loses the form, no reprints are available at the Merit Badge College. Please stress the importance of this with your scouts.

  • This also means - no waiting on forms to be returned, sorted, and handed back to unit leader at the end of the day.

BLUE CARDS:  The Uwharrie District MBC does not use or provide blue cards. By registering, it is assumed that the Scout has permission of the Scoutmaster to participate in the class for which registered.

RIGHT TO LIMIT OR CANCEL: Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and class minimums. NO WALK-INS will be allowed. Registration by Troop is REQUIRED. Open and ending enrollment will be limited to the dates above indicated.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE: Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.

EXPECTATIONS: Scouts are STRONGLY encouraged to read the Merit Badge Booklet and finish all pre-requisites before attending the Merit Badge Clinic. It is also suggested that scouts download and use the merit badge worksheets to complete pre-requisites before and then for note taking during the merit badge class. (http://usscouts.org/usscouts/mb/worksheets/list.asp).

FIRST AID STATION: There will be a First Aid Station provided. Local emergency medical services (911) will be utilized if required.

UNIFORM: The Full BSA Class A uniform is the official uniform for the day. The merit badge sash may also be worn.

CODE OF CONDUCT: The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge Day. A Scout whose conduct is not consistent with the code will be directed to leave the grounds immediately. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit. Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster or other assigned leaders in charge of the troop. The decision as to removal of a disruptive Scout rests solely with the instructor.

TRANSPORTATION: The troop leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. Troops may not leave Scouts by themselves to be picked up by parents at a later time. We will not render sitting services. Also, the Troop is responsible for each boy's safe passage to and from the event - we will NOT release any boys to individual parents - the Troops are responsible for each boy.

FOOD: The price of the event includes lunch. Food and beverages are NOT allowed in the classroom. Feel free to bring your own refreshments or purchase some at the event.

CLEAN UP: The Scout is clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same condition as found. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING:  Every Adult Scouter attending the event must provide proof of current youth protection training at check-in.

TROOP ON SITE CONTACT:  Each Troop is required to designate at least one registered adult who is responsible for check-in and check-out for all Scouts from their Troop the day of the MBC.  The Troop On-site Contact is required to register with the Registration Coordinator the day of the MBC, providing their cell phone number as well.  The Troop On-site Contact is also required to notify the Registration Coordinator if leaving the MBC during the period when classes are being conducted.

MERIT BADGE FORMS (Repeated again because its important)

  • Approximately 5 days before the MBC, Merit Badge Forms will be emailed to the adult listed as registering the unit for the MBC.  Each from will contain the Scout Name, Merit Badge registered for, Classroom Name/number, Instructor name, and any prerequisites.

SCOUT EMAIL ADRESS:  The online registration system requests the email address and telephone number for Scouts participating in the MBC.  This is intended to facilitate the Merit Badge Counselor providing information regarding prerequisites and material that will be covered in class to the Scouts prior to the MBC.  In the spirit of BSA YPT guidelines, please provide an email address and/or telephone number for the Scout’s parents or adult leader rather than the individual Scout.

A SCOUT IS PREPARED: Scouts are expected to bring paper, pencil, and a copy of the Merit Badge pamphlet. Any Scout expecting to complete the Merit Badge in class must also complete the pre-requisites listed on the registration page and bring them to class. Any requirements not completed in class or as pre-requisites must be completed at a later date at the Troop level.

REQUIREMENTS:  There are some merit badges that we are offering during the Merit Badge College that are beyond the scope of this program.  Those have been indicated in the individual merit badge description as a prerequisite to completing the merit badge at the Merit Badge College.

WORKSHEETS & PRE-REQUISTES

  • Many of the counselors are asking that the scouts bring worksheets ( available from www.MeritBadge.org  ) to the classes. The Citizenship merit badges are requiring that the scouts bring the worksheets to be able to take notes for the class.

  • Also be sure that scouts bring any pre-requisites along or documentation for the merit badge counselor – otherwise the scout will receive an incomplete/partial merit badge form back.

Merit Badge pamphlets and supplemental information: Merit Badge pamphlets are available at the Old North State Council office in Greensboro. Many counselors have posted supplemental information for their class at their individual pages on the registration site. Simply click on the instructors name to access this great information.
