Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.  

How will we do this? 

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Boy Scout Nova Award


Whoosh! for Engineering


 This module is designed to help you explore how engineering affects your   life each day.


    Requirement 1


Choose A or B or C and complete ALL the requirements.


A. Watch about three hours total of engineering-related shows or documentaries that involve motion or motion-inspired technology. Then do the following:


1. Make a list of at least five questions or ideas


from the show(s) you watched.


2. Discuss two of the questions or ideas with yourcounselor.


Some examples include—but are not limited to—shows found on PBS ("NOVA"),


Discovery Channel, Science Channel, National Geographic Channel, TED Talks (online videos), and the History Channel. You may choose to watch a live performance or movie at a planetarium or science museum instead of watching a media production.


You may watch online productions with your counselor’s approval and under your parent’s supervision. One example is the NOVA Lever an Obelisk page on ancient Egypt and the use of levers, available at

www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/egypt/raising/lever.html.


Examples of magazines include—but are not limited to—Odyssey, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Science Illustrated, Discover, Air & Space, Popular Astronomy,


Astronomy, Science News, Sky & Telescope, Natural History, Robot, Servo, Nuts and Volts, and Scientific American.


B. Read (about three hours total) about motion or motion-inspired technology. Then do the following:


1. Make a list of at least two questions or ideas from each article.


 2. Discuss two of the questions or ideas with your counselor.


C. Do a combination of reading and watching (about three hours total).

Counselor Information
Thank you for your interest in the 2018 Boy Scout and Venturer Nova Award kick-off event to be held at Discovery Place Science.  Each Boy Scout and Venturer must bring a pen, paper, lunch or snacks, water.  Because of potential risk to other participants, please do not bring peanut or other nut foods.  Each participant should wear Class A uniform without neckerchief, slide, or merit badge sash, with closed toe shoes.  Each participant should leave cell phones at home.  To have Boy Scout Whoosh! and Venturing Hang On! Nova Engineering Award requirements signed off, each Boy Scout and Venturer must complete pre-event homework and bring their notes and drawings to the event.
