If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

MERIT BADGE PREREQUISITES AND REQUIRED MATERIALS
Citizenship in the Community *

  • Bring a map of your community and be able to locate local community buildings.

  • Attend a meeting of city/town, county, or state court session. Discuss what was covered and interview one individual at meeting to see what they do and why it’s important.

  • Choose an organization (not Scouting) that helps your community. See what young people can do to help and volunteer for a day. Bring resources (newspapers, flyers, literature, etc.) to show what the organization does, and how it helps the community.

  • When you have completed – give a public presentation (video, slide show, speech, digital presentation, or photo exhibit) about importance and unique aspects of your community. Stage your presentation in front of merit badge counselor or a group such as your patrol and Scoutmaster.

Citizenship In The Nation *

  • Transportation may not be available. Troop may need to provide transportation or Scout may need to carpool.

  • Complete requirements 2d, 3, 6 and 8 before class. Bring letter and response (if received) for requirement 8 to class.

  • Includes FIELD TRIP to Boone County Heritage Museum. Admission is free.

Bring signed consent form.

  • Complete prerequisites and class work to earn merit badge.

Citizenship of the World

Communications

  • #5 - Attend a public meeting (city council, school board, debate) approved by your counselor where several points of view are given on a single issue. Practice active listening skills and take careful notes of each point of view. Prepare an objective report that includes all points of view that were expressed and share this with your counselor.

  • #8 - Plan a troop or crew court of honor, campfire program, or interfaith worship service. Have the patrol leaders’ council approve it, then write the script and prepare the program. Serve as master of ceremonies

Coin Collecting

  • Requirement 5b (Here is a link to an online magazine: www.coinworld.com, and it can be accessed without having to subscribe or sign in).

  • Requirement 6 (We will discuss the programs in class. For the coins: pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this part of the requirement).

  • Requirement 7 (We will discuss the mint marks and designer’s initials in class. For the coins: pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this part of the requirement).

  • Requirement 9 (Unless the Scout already has what he needs, I recommend 9d. Pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this requirement).

  • Requirement 10 (I will be using 10b, specifically the website of the U.S. Mint, for this requirement, and here is the link: http://www.usmint.gov).

  • *Not a requirement for the class, but I highly recommend each Scout purchasing and using the Whitman Boy Scout Merit Badge Coin Folder for badge requirements 6, 7, and 9. It also contains helpful information for some of the other badge requirements. To order it from Whitman, use this link: https://www.whitman.com/store/Inventory/Detail/Boy-Scout-Merit-Badge-Coin- Folder. The phone number is at the top of the web page.

Or

  • the folder can be purchased at/ordered from the Books-A-Million in

Branson: phone number (417) 239-3702. It may be better to call the store and have them ship it. They normally only keep one or two folders in stock.

  • Complete prerequisites and class work to earn merit badge.

Disabilities Awareness

  • Visit a business or organization that helps those who have disabilities. Bring back flyers or literature on what they do to help.

  • Survey school, church, and one public building: How many disability parking? Entrances? How far away? What do you see that might help in the future? Present to patrol and Scoutmaster what you learned and what you suggest to help.

Emergency Preparedness *

  • Complete requirements 1, 2c & 8b if possible. Be ready to discuss.

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.
