THE CEDAR RAPIDS MERIT BADGE UNIVERSITY IS HOSTED BY BOY SCOUT TROOP 37



PLEASE JOIN US FOR A GREAT DAY OF MERIT BADGE CLASSES!  



MERIT BADGE CLASSES ARE INSTRUCTED BY LEADERS, CAREER PROFESSIONALS AND HOBBYIST.  TO EARN A BADGE AT OUR UNIVERSITY WE REQUIRE ALL SCOUTS TO PARTICIPATE FULLY.  WE ASK LEADERS TO REGISTER THEIR SCOUTS FOR APPROPRIATE BADGES FOR THEIR AGE AND RANK.  LEADERS SHOULD KNOW EACH SCOUTS ABILITIES AND HELP PREPARE THEM FOR THE CLASSES THEY REGISTER FOR.  MOST CLASSES HAVE PREREQUISTES THAT INSTRUCTORS REQUIRE TO BE DONE PRIOR TO ATTENDING.  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PREREQUISTES FOR EACH CLASS AND READ YOUR MERIT BADGE BOOKS.



SCOUTS MAY ONLY REGISTER FOR ONE EAGLE CLASS!



SCOUTS ARE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN THEIR CLASS A UNIFORM AND ARRIVE PREPARED.  BLUE CARD WILL BE HANDED OUT BY OUR COUNSELORS.


TROOP 37  WELCOMES GIRL TROOPS TO OUR WORKSHOP.  IF YOU HAVE A GIRL TROOP REGISTERED, WE ASK THAT YOU HAVE FEMALE LEADERS PRESENT IN THE CLASSROOM TO ASSIT WITH 2 DEEP LEADERSHIP.

Description

We will be offering morning and afternoon session of merit badge classes, a couple are full day sessions.  Troops will be asked to check in at Iowa Hall from 7:00 am to 7:45am.  The afternoon sessions will begin at 1pm.  Each half day session will cost $12.00, full day sessions are $24.00.    All merit badges that will have field trips will be on campus for lunch.  There are a few merit badges that have extra material fees.



We have it set up so that you can prepay for your lunch.  The cost is $9.00, tht includes a hamburger, homemade mac & cheese, potatoes chips and lemonade/punch/water.  You will need to sign up on the website for the lunch vouchers.  You will receive the vouchers in your registration packet. We will NOT be selling lunch vouchers on campus, they must be purchased with registration!  So please plan ahead and pre-order lunch!!   To sign up for lunch vouchers, please use the food entry.



Please do not bring any outside lunches into the cafeteria area due to the Kirkwood catering requirements. Vending machines will be available to purchase additional snacks.  No change machines will be available.


Counselor Information

We ask that you have a contact person that will be attending the work shop for each troop.  We will have a form that needs to be completed with emergency numbers for your Troop.  Please have this filled out prior to coming to the workshop to make the check in process go smoothly.  We would also ask that all release forms be turned in to the registration table prior to expedite registration that morning.



**Some merit badge sessions will be taking field trips.  We will need volunteers to help with transportation of scouts.  If your troop has scouts signed up, please be ready to help with travel.



ONCE YOUR TROOP HAS SIGNED UP, PLEASE SEND A LIST OF ADULT VOLUNTEERS TO PAM.  We are a small troop and need at least two adults in each session.  It is CRITICAL to the success that we have adults that will sit in sessions.



The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the guiding behavior for our workshop.  A Scout whose conduct is not consistant with the code will be directed to leave the campus immediately. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit.   



No siblings or non-registered youth will be allowed in classrooms!


 


Unit Sign-up Instructions

If your scout's first choice is not available, please sign your scout up for their second choice.  Please keep checking back to see if spots open up!



Please note that by registering you are reserving a seat in the class.   The registration fee is nonrefundable.  The fee will not be refunded if the Scout does not attend.  You may substitute another Scout as long as the merit badge does not change.  Please contact Pam Ammeter prior to event day.

 



LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS FEBRUARY 28TH!!  PAYMENT IS DUE NO LATER THAN MARCH 8!!

Payment Instructions for the Unit

Please print the registration sheet and make the check out to Troop #37 TO BE RECEIVED BY NO LATER THAN MARCH 8TH TO AVOID A $5.00 LATE FEE PER SCOUT.

Kirkwood College is located at 6301 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA.  Kirkwood College is located just south of Hwy 30 in Cedar Rapids.



 


Release Information
Please note that scouts will be photographed through out the event.



Troops must carry and have available and ready to produce their BSA health forms in case of emergency.
